The Application Process
Step 1 : Research
Explore our website and familiarize yourselves with self-directed education. Contact us with questions and to tour the school and meet the facilitators.
Step 2 : Apply
Complete our online application and pay the $40 application fee. If you are applying to the roots program (ages 3-6) please visit the roots enrollment page. Upon completion of the application, you will receive an email with a link to our tuition worksheet.
Step 3 : Visiting Week
The next step is scheduling a visiting week. This allows the student to experience what it is like to be at Cottonwood and lets us make sure the student is a good fit for the environment. Visiting weeks are $125. If you apply during the summer, we will arrange a parent and student interview in lieu of the visiting week.
Step 4 : Final Enrollment
At the end of the visiting week, the prospective family will then meet with facilitators to ask questions, develop a greater feel for the community and expand their understandings of the philosophy of the school. After this visit, the prospective family will let the admissions committee know if they would like to pursue enrollment. The admissions committee will make a final determination.
